The Queen of Easter Egg Hunts

It’s a little known secret, but Pete’s favourite holiday is actully Easter. He tells me it’s because it’s the first real indication that winter has truly buggered off, but I think it’s mainly because it not only justifies but, celebrates an insane amount of hot cross bun devouring.

As we’ve been away in Dubai for the last two Easters we thought we should do something a bit more special and fun this year. And for us there was only one event for it….  Easter Sunday at Musselburgh Racecourse. It’ll be the first time I’ve been to the races and I am beyond excited to go! Who knows maybe this will be the start of a new Easter weekend tradition.

As one of the biggest social events of the Easter weekend, this year the five-star visitor attraction has added family entertainments and free entry for children to its hotly anticipated line up.

There’s going to be a Kids Zone which will cater for little ones of all ages, and will feature a variety of fun fair rides, all completely free. Top quality racing featuring the £100,000 Queen’s Cup, live music, fairground rides, yummy food and drinks, face painting, game stalls, and an Easter Egg hunt too…..there is something for everyone.  With the Easter Bunny making an appearance it’s truly not an event anyone should to miss out on.

Did I mention that kids go free???

There are various amazing packages available to indulge your tastebuds, but for those wanting to experience the races in true style there’s the Pommery Pop Package which along with general admission and a race programme includes a 200ml bottle of Pommery Pop champagne! If I didn’t have the little one with me I know which package I’d be fully embracing.

Now what am I going to wear?! ❤

Spring into Stripes

Hello my lovelies,

Hope you all had an indulgent Easter with plenty of chocolate, hot cross buns and special moments with family and friends. We had a quiet Easter weekend

as Poppy and I were suffering from the cold and the yucky weather outside wasn’t exactly inviting so we had to cancel our plans and stay wrapped up close together.

Spring doesn’t have to be just for florals. Although it feels far from spring outside just yet, that’s no excuse to not update my wardrobe with some new pieces.  (Love a double negative 😉 )

I’ll be adding some fresh stripes into my wardrobe to brighten up my daily uniform. The rainbow  sweater from Pull and Bear is in my basket at this very moment! It’s so cute I cant wait to wear it. Whether you opt for a chunky knit or a sleek check blazer with side stripes, you can’t go wrong with a stripe injection this spring.

What are you adding to your wardrobe this Spring?

It doesn’t take a long visit to my Instagram page to know I’m a hugely loyal to Liz Earle.

In December I decided to add to my collection and they have, and continue to be, worth every penny. Liz Earle definitely isn’t a budget brand, but a little goes a very long way.

Turning 30 I noticed my skin changed considerably and then after a baby even more so. Full disclosure…I’ve never had wonderful skin; I actually suffered quite badly with acne well into my early 20s. I was really hard on my skin when I was in high school, thinking the more I washed my face the better. I would use the most drying abrasive products just to try and keep my oily skin at bay. I never even thought about using a moisturiser. I’m now seeing the damage in my skin that I caused back then. God, if I could tell my teenage self one thing it would be to keep my hands away from my face, oh and to leave my eyebrows the hell alone!

Looking after your skin is no important and it’s something I will pass down to Poppy as she grows up.

  • Brightening Treatment Mask – Used three times a week as part of my morning skincare routine and it wakes my skin right up leaving it all dewy glow.
  • Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion – Soak two cotton pads with this lotion and lay your head back on the sofa for 10 minutes. A very welcome treat after a long day at work or with baby.

  • Superskin Eye Cream – Two pumps make my late nights with Poppy that little bit less obvious. This eye cream definitely works and the delicate pomegranate scent left behind is gorgeous.
  • Superskin Moisturiser – By far the best moisturiser I have ever used. This luxurious cream has sorted my winter skin right out and I just pray Liz Earle never ever stop making this moisturiser!

Clink in the links and try these wonder products out for yourself.

Are you a Liz Earle fan too? Leave me a comment and tell me what your experience has been.

My Must Have Christmas Tree Decorations

Christmas is now only 10 days away and I couldn’t be more excited! Who has all their presents bought and wrapped? We’ll done…I’m still steadily working my way through Amazon.

What I do have finished though is my Christmas tree! Its become a tradition now for me to make roasted citrus slices to decorate our tree so I thought I’d share with you how I make them.

What you need:

  • 3 large oranges and 2 red grapefruit
  • Sharp knife
  • Preheated oven set at 100 degrees
  • String/Ribbon
  • Scissors

Cut oranges and grapefruit into roughly 1cm thick slices and dab with kitchen roll to remove excess moisture place straight onto the oven rack or these oven chip trays as you can see below.

Bake for approx 4 hours with the oven door ajar flipping every so often to keep from burning.

Once wrinkled remove and put to the side to cool down.

Once cooled pierce a small hole with scissors and string up. I used wrapping string as I love the rustic feel it gives.

Decorate your tree and then stand back and admire.

The smell of a real Christmas real combined with the sharp scent of citrus is heavenly and gives off such a warming vibe.

Hope you like them 🖤
